BFl Super Tournament 9-29-06

The day started at 3:33 am after the Friday night pre-tournament meeting.  The morning was brisk, 45 degrees, and the sky was cloudy.  Water temp around 61 degrees with a falling tide for the first hour or so.  10 grown men standing in their boats crowded around one small spot that was seemingly holding bass, the only one catching a thing was my partner Mr. Coleman.  He worked his finesse jig so that no fish could resist, and by 930am he had a limit, but no one else in the area did.  We set up to fish the afternoon but unfortunately this is where the story ends and his outboard motor and electrical system malfunctioned and we were towed in before I could even catch a fish!  Such is the non boater side of the story, we are dependent upon the boaters to maintain their boats or else we don't get the opportunity to win.  My partner ended up with an almost 10lb sack of bass for the moring and I got skunked.   Just a small bump in the road on my way to be Bass King I suppose.  Now starting to focus my mind on Smith Mountain Lake, my next tournament is the end of October 2006, at Smith Mountain.  I presume it will be a finesse jig that wins it, but who knows what size or color will work this time, however if the weather stays very warm, regular size baits will work too.
