BASS FISHING LEAGUE ARKIE DIVISION TO HOST EVENT ON DEGRAY LAKE

Arkansas body of water “on fire”

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (March 17, 2010) – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to DeGray Lake March 27 for the second of five stops in the Arkie Division series. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“DeGray has been on fire lately,” said Team Folgers pro Scott Suggs of Bryant, Ark., who won the 2007 Forrest Wood cup and $1 million. “It’s one the best lakes around these parts.

“The majority of the tournament should be a pre-spawn deal, but there could be fish spawning,” Suggs added. “Guys will catch fish on a wacky worm, jerkbait and a Carolina rig. If the water’s up, they’ll be flipping bushes with jigs and creature baits.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Iron Mountain Lodge and Marina located at 134 Iron Mountain Marina Drive in Arkadelphia, Ark. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The DeGray Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division league circuit devoted to weekend anglers, that offers even bigger prizes to qualifiers of the regional championship and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
