FLW COLLEGE FISHING NORTHERN DIVISION TO HOST EVENT ON POTOMAC RIVER

Creeks Could be Spoiler in this River Event
MARBURY, Md. (May 26, 2010) – National Guard FLW College Fishing is headed to the Potomac River June 5 for the second of four stops in the Northern Division series. Forty collegiate teams will be competing for a top award of $10,000 to be split evenly between the school and bass fishing club.
“The fish are post spawn and starting to get in their summer patterns,” said Chevy pro Dave Lefebre of Union City, Pa., who has one win and four top-10 finishes on the Potomac. “They will be starting to school in grass beds - milfoil and hydrialla. I would spend my time flipping the grassy areas with a jig or a worm. There are also a lot of creeks that could produce well in this tournament and shouldn’t necessarily be overlooked. ”
“The tide is going to be a big factor,” Lefebre added. These kids are going to need to do their homework and study the tides. That’s what makes this river so fun and strategic.
Anglers will take off from Smallwood State Park located at 2750 Sweden Point Road in Marbury, Md., at 6 a.m. Weigh-in will be held at Smallwood State Park as well beginning at 12 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
